Okay so here's my honest opinion.

When Naruto began I liked it a lot. However as the series went on there were more filler episodes and a lot of flashbacks taking up time in each episode that could have been used to move the story line along.

The characters are fun and the story is creative. I really did like it for a long time.

Reasons I stopped watching halfway through Naruto Shippuden:
1. One of my favorite characters disrespected the sacrifice his brother had made, in a big way, and it pissed me off.
2. The Number of fillers and flashbacks increased.
3. The art style started getting weird as the artist got more help drawing to keep up with the high demand.
4. The final boss got too strong.
5. Dead people were coming back to life.

That last one is what bothers me the most. Yes it is sad when a character dies, but if it is done at the right timing it will have a lot of meaning not just for the story characters but also for us readers. When a character gets resurrected it takes the fear of death out of the entire series. Battles are no longer as intense because it doesn't matter if someone dies because they have the chance to come back.
Its the same with the DBZ battles. They were fun, but not as heart wrenching because all dead characters would be revived before long.

The fourth reason is a common problem for story tellers. It happened in Inuyasha which is still a favorite of mine, and it nearly happened in YuYu Hakusho. When the boss becomes too strong the main hero also is forced to become too strong. The story can drag on for a longer amount of time and battles begin to mean less and less. In the end the main character is so strong that there is ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE of having any attempt at a good continuation or sequel because there is no one who could stand up to the main hero.
The reason I feel it's important to leave some things open to the imagination is so that the story can continue to live on in the reader's thoughts. It adds a little fun to the end. But if the hero becomes too strong all that can happen is he or she slowly getting bored with the world.

Sorry for this rant. Its up to you if you watch it or not. I would say the same stuff about Bleach. They're very good concepts but the endings were not well thought out leading to some problems.
